Early Years and Foundation Stage
|
The Early Years and Foundation Stage includes our Nursery and Reception classes. In June 2008 Ofsted inspected our Nursery. Here is their judgement: "The quality of teaching and learning is outstanding. Children's attitudes to learning, their behaviour and general level of engagement are excellent, aiding them to make superb progress. The leadership and management are outstanding and extremely effective in promoting an inclusive environment in which every child matters." |

And to demonstrate that this was no "flash in the pan", the Independent Schools Inspectorate in their Interim Inspection last term concluded that: "Outcomes for children in the EYFS are outstanding. Children's social and emotional development is excellent and progress is very good for all other areas of learning and development. Children are happy, enthusiastic and eager to get involved in their activities." Some nuts and bolts: Children may attend morning Nursery from 8.45am to 12.00 noon or can stay all day, from 8.45am to 3.00pm. The all-day pupils have lunch in the Dining Hall with the rest of the school and are supervised by the Nursery staff and Senior Managers. Nursery pupils have their own "circle time" every day and the Head takes a more formal Assembly one day a week. Reception children follow the same school day as the infants. Click here for details. Children are encouraged to develop a wide range of skills through play that will stand them in good stead for both learning and getting along with others. When appropriate, children in the Nursery are introduced to reading and number work which they will develop further in Reception.
