Music and Drama

"The pupils greatly enjoy participating in ... clubs and they add greatly to their educational experiences. This was particularly evident in the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the pupils in all singing lessons observed." (ISI Inspection Spring Term 2010)

Music and Drama play a big part in the life of the school. We have a school choir and a popular orchestra. Lessons are available in school for violin, 'cello, trumpet, flute, clarinet and piano. Children may also learn the recorder. Everyone is encouraged to discover the pleasures of singing and playing percussion instruments.

Speech and Drama are part of the curriculum and classes work towards Central School of Speech and Drama and English Speaking Board examinations. Year groups take turns in presenting Assemblies, which are prepared in class. All pupils have a part to play and parents are welcome to attend.

Children take part in a variety of productions at Christmas. At Easter Passion Plays are performed and at the end of Year 6 the pupils present a leavers' play.
