Virgo Fidelis Preparatory School

Our school has grown substantially in recent years. We have proved a popular choice for parents locally and further afield. None of our classes has more than twenty children. The staff turnover in recent years has been very low, creating a sense of stability for all the children. The National Curriculum is followed throughout the school, with good results in the Standard Assessment Tests at 7 and 11.

Inspiring children since 1848
Children begin with a very solid grounding in Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, which gives them the basis for developing greater independence in their learning. Learning resources of all types are readily available in the Library, the Information Technology Suite as well as, of course, in the children’s own classrooms.

We all benefit from the use of a small chapel and when required we use the Parish Church of Virgo Fidelis which is situated in our beautiful grounds.

The school day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3.15pm (3.00pm for Reception). There is an Assembly each day at 9.50am and a longer Assembly each Friday for the whole school. We have a 20 minute break each morning when the children go out to play. Lunch is at 12.00 noon. Children can either bring their own lunch or have a school dinner in the Dining Hall, supervised by staff. After lunch, the children play out or attend lunchtime clubs (which include: Orchestra, Chess, Netball, Football, Cross-country, Cricket and Debating) before lessons begin again for the afternoon.
